This past week has brought great fishing to the Upper and Middle Keys. We at Upper Keys Sportfishing have consistently caught nice slammer mahi on our longer Marlin charters and full day charters. The fish are found one at time and is more hunting than fishing. The tuna bite on the humps has been great but if you are happy with 20 charter and private boats catching lots of small 12" tuna then head there.
If you want the larger 20 plus pound blackfins you need to go away from the crowd and spend your time and fuel and willing to possibly go empty handed as trophy fishing requires! This past week we caught several large blackfin and yellowfin tuna for our clients.
The rage for our charters right now is Blue Marlin. We have had several raises this past week trolling teasers and lost a good 300 or so blue to a straightened hook. We caught a small 150# rat yesterday. As I write we had 1 raise today to a Bost Lure but the lady was just window shopping.
